A Sticky Mess

Daniel Patterson, Asa Gilberts, and Emmett Foster were three of the most unscrupulous men you have ever met in their life. These three were friends in college and began their own professions as carpetbaggers after the American Civil War. They would find some poor person in need of money where they’d created tax frauds and swindled the townsfolk.

Eventually the local authorities found out their devious plans and were chased out of the town. It was here the three men ended up in the swamplands of Louisiana. In order to pay their debts and atoned for wicked past, they were employed by George Gracey. Each men took up jobs as the mansion's cook, liveryman and gardener.

One rainy night, the three men thought they heard a voice of a woman in distress. They tried to find the source of the disturbance until they all stumbled into quicksand. They climbed onto each other’s shoulders(Asa on Emmit’s shoulder, and Daniel on the top of Asa's) in a futile attempt to reach an overhead tree branch. Their efforts backfired and they only drowned faster from their own weight. All three men perished.

Later in their afterlives, the three men would be seen giving the staff a second hand in the kitchen, landscaping and tending the stables.
