From Regions Beyond

1858-???

Leota Ravenscroft was born in swamplands of Louisiana to a voodoo queen and traveling Romani. It was also rumored she inherited from her great grandmother who fled from the Salem Witch Trials. At a young age, Leota started showing signs of communicated with spirits and foreseeing the future. Most of the townsfolk never trusted her and thought she made a child of the Devil himself. At the age of 16, her grandmother gifted her the Book of Shadows, which contained many spells and incantations, including the most dangerous ones which she warned against.

Leota set up her own shop in the French quarters of New Orleans. Inside it was filled with artifacts, relics and other curiosities for his own “Museum of the Weird.” Including an Egyptian sarcophagus complete with a mummy, shrunken heads and cursed artifacts.

It was on one occasion that she crossed paths with William Gracey. She told William she had been drawn to the mansion, feeling the powerful presence of the supernatural, and she sensed his need for the quieting of their activity. They talked, and in the end, Leota was brought into William’s employ, taking residence in the manse. Leota was given a place to practice her arts where she converted the upstairs polar for her own seance circle to commune with the spirits and work mystical spells.

On the eve of William and Emily's wedding, Leota had told William of a grave vision she had. “Death shall be at your wedding.” She warned him to call the wedding off before it's too late. But Gracey just shrugged and didn't take Leota’s dire message, he assured her that nothing will ruin this day. It happened when Leota sensed a dark aura of foreboding doom where she witnessed a "uninvited guest" locking the young bride to be in an attic trunk.

After Emily's '"accident', Leota would conduct seances with Gracey to communicate with the spirit of his bride to be. One rainy night in 1899, Leota was attempting to contact a spirit hoping to quell its rage. Sensing a dark presence, Leota tried to confine it in her crystal ball. Only to have the spell backfire, Leota’s body was never found, in this world at least. After her departure from this world, she has little power left and still commands respect.
